about the bunny maker

Well, yes, that's a good question.  Just who does make the sock bunnies?

The Bunny Maker is me, Anna, a confuzzled mother of three boys, wrestling with fish fingers, school runs and vast amounts of muddy laundry.  That's me to the left there, with the wild hair.

I live in West Sussex, with a husband (Mr. Bunny Maker) three small boys (The Bun-sons), lots of lego, pencils, paint, cushions and random objects.  I sew, make and paint stuff in my workroom 'The Burrow' where my two real bunnies, Nosy and Spike, also live.  They spread hay over the nice stripy rug and are in the process of gnawing through my work table legs. 

So, how did all this bunny thing start?

I had (or have) a little business called Half an Acre, making handmade wooden lovely things.  I never used to make bunnies until one day I did.  I made a bunny from a sock ........

One of my Bun-sons, the eldest, loves bunnies, especially ones with soft, soft ears. He has 42. Forty two stuffed bunnies.  On his bed.   I made him another from a sock. Then another.  Then his two brothers wanted one. Then my friends' children wanted bunnies, and those bunnies needed bunny cousins. You can see where this is going.

Widget was one of the first bunnies I made and is pretty cute.  He has a nice scarf and keeps everyone in order here at The Warren.

Widget and Friends has grown into a bouncy little enterprise, and now incorporates the funky painted items and other gifty things originally from Half an Acre.

What else do I do?

I blog, endlessly.  All my wafflings are on The Bunny Maker's Blog.   I also run The Handmade Bunny to raise money for the RWAF and help my fellow online makers.

Mixed in with that I write articles for UK Handmade, not as frequently as I would like, but some nonetheless. You can see some of them on the Articles page here.
